| The huge interest in Pomene Bay as a holiday destination area has been identified as the most suitable coastal area to create a spectacular travel destination that blends seamlessly with the existing natural environment of Pomene. Tourism Minister Fernando Sumbana noted that tourism in Inhambane province has been gaining a new momentum, which creates hopes that this will become a huge industry soon. To make his point, he said that an investment of 80 million US dollars was recently approved for the building of five star hotel at the Pomene beach, with a capacity for 200 beds. (The INVESTOR - September 11 2007) With hundreds of undeveloped coastal miles along the Mozambique coast, there is definitely room to develop a coastal marine and wildlife sanctuary for the discerning traveler. Due to the unique features of Pomene, the coral reefs, the abundant marine life, the estuary with it’s mangroves, the large white sandy beaches, the tropical dune forests, the fresh water wetlands and an existing nature reserve, Pomene needs to be protected, developed and made available to everyone. With a new 5 star hotel will come structured activities, security, employment and environmental management. It may also bring other forms of accommodation, residential housing, shops and recreation. All of this is good and will contribute towards the maintenance of reefs, vegetation and wildlife. Although it is early days for Pomene to be offering investment opportunities by selling exclusive homes and businesses, we understand that investors are always looking to get a jump on usefully information, long before it reaches the normal advertised channels.
